| A don't know alot about chips too be honest but am not sure they wont do a 1.6 much good, from what av heard unless you got anything from a 1.8l, 2.0l onwards its not worth it as they trick the ECU an just push more fuel out into the engine thro the engine an that tends too give you more a a boost so too speak.
But as a says a don't know a lot about them so a would wait too see what others say, as there are a few in the know on the site an that would be able too answer yeah better than i have.

| if u dont have a turbo in yer car its not realy gonna make a huge diference in the power of yer car.. if ye get somethin 2 get more air in2 the engine 1st then it will make more of a difference, as the more air yev got flowin in2 yer engine the cooler it gets which means it ca go faster as u no doubt know =P.. evin then.. wont make much of a difference atall..! all th chip does is tell the fuel system the correct amount of fuel 2 put in.. it controls the ignition timin aswell, but the stock settins for ur car will awlready be set 2 get th most form yer engine.! sean knows wot hees tokin bout.. hees the man 2 talk 2 =P | |

No longer my son, simon closed doors last year, although it may return Straight answer. No, you cant. Very, very few n/a cars chip. Some renaults (quite amazingly) and the rover k series are the best n/a engines to take to re-mapping. You would be very lucky to get 6bhp from doing it, so it's not worth it as you wont be able to tell the difference. Compare it to the volvo's that i worked on, which were mostly t5's 250bhp upto 310bhp which cost £500, mainly because we did it as a live remap. uni-chips i dont like as i've heard and (and bastarding corrected) a few cars with them. Same with the dragon tuning boxes, they acctualy show up a fault code in the ecu. All they do is increase fuel pressure. In the case of volvo and vag cars, the ecu outsmarts it and blocks the box. Rendering it useless. If your wanting power, be prepared to spend the money, get some cams and headwork.
